This is an installation package for the games Shadow of the Beast I, II, and III (Amiga versions) that will allow them to be played in Windows via the emulator FS-UAE, with easy to use desktop and/or start menu shortcuts and an uninstall option for quick removal. These are the WHDLoad versions so no disk swapping is required! Just start the games and go. The manuals are also included.
Please note: An Xinput controller is highly recommended, and will work without any need for configuration. It does need to be connected before starting the game, however. On an Xinput controller, the controls are:
Left Stick = Movement
A = Jump
X = Attack
Right Trigger = Warp (fast forward)
Start = FS-UAE Menu Select = Pause
Right Thumb Stick Button = Quit
Note that if you use save states (accessible via the FS-UAE Menu) you need to quit via the right thumb stick button or F10 - do not exit via the FS-UAE menu -> Close function as saves/savestates are only saved temporarily for WHDLoad games until the QuitKey is used (right thumb stick button or F10 in this case).
If you want to change the controls, you'll need to start Launcher.exe then go to Settings -> Controllers, double-click on the controller in the list, and then alter the inputs.
Zomb's Lair is the passion project of a long-time PC gamer dedicated to bringing old classics to a modern audience, while eliminating all of the hurdles that that normally entails.

RE: why is it a .exe self extracting archive?
Because it installs shortcuts on your desktop for the games, shortcuts for the games and manuals in the start menu, as well as an uninstaller.
It's an installer package. All of my stuff is. They're still technically portable insomuch as you can pickup the folder and move it elsewhere and it will still work, but your shortcuts would break at that point.
